The Annual Tartan Ball is a keystone event hosted by the St. Andrew's Society of Washington, D.C., the National Capital Area's preeminent Scottish-American organization. celebrates Scottish pageantry. Ball's Silent Auction generates critical funds for the Society's charitable foundation, the Washington Scots Charity and Education Fund. This foundation organized under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, annually disburses scholarships and cultural grants ranging from $14,000 to $20,000.

The Ball has its roots in 1938 and continue to this day to being a high point of the Washington social season. Set in the Mayflower’s Grand Ballroom and conjuring images of a more elegant era, this black tie gala dinner-dance event boasts a guided single malt scotch tasting, dazzling cocktails, silent auction, and fine cuisine served amidst the heady entertainment provided by the St. Andrew's Society of Washington D.C.'s Pipes and Drums and Highland Dancers. Attendance is open to all lovers of Scottish pageantry and culture!
